You should always be open to asking others for advice. It’s impossible to know everything before you start, and you’ll continuously learn along the way.
A therapist once advised me to set a specific time to switch off from work, like 8pm, and after that, I don’t allow myself to look at anything work-related, including websites, LinkedIn, or emails. It sounds simple, but it has made a significant difference.
I will resist the urge to just write BRAT. I have been enjoying the NTS Breakfast Show with Flo.
I’m fortunate to have a large home office filled with inspiration, from books and prints to a bit of organised chaos. However, I still enjoy mixing it up by working with others in an office environment. Shout out to the new Ouseburn Trust hot desk!
I have a book called Pasta Grannies that features traditional, simple Italian recipes. There’s also a YouTube channel where you can watch 90+ year-old nonnas preparing these dishes.
I believe it’s crucial to meet in person and remember that there’s a human behind every email.
Working with Tyneside Cinema deepened my interest in world cinema. I try to watch a film every night, which helps me unwind, slow down, and forget about the day’s stress while also gaining more insight into different cultures and perspectives.
My website is joegill.xyz, I also recently shared a showreel of some of my past work on my LinkedIn or on Instagram.
